I've used floatation therapy for a while, but to have it alongside the Infrared Sauna and Ice Bath in a private room is amazing

FAQ
  • What is flotation?
Quite simply, flotation is the most effective method for stress relief and relaxation. The pods water saturated with 250kg of Epsom salt, creating incredibly buoyant water for you to float on. The water is heated to skin temperature (35.5'). Once you’re settled, it is virtually impossible to distinguish what parts of your body are in contact with the water and which aren’t. Since your senses are void from input, the tank is sometimes also called a sensory deprivation tank. However, we often notice our senses go into hyperdrive while floating right down to hearing yourself blink, which makes for a pretty amazing experience.
  • How often should I float?
While you can float every day without harm, we find that the relaxing effects of a 45m float typically last beyond that day. For best results, we recommend regular sessions, and many clients find that floating once a week provides the most benefits.
  • What will it be like for me?
We don’t know what it will be like for you since it is such an individual experience. Nearly every customer reports having profound peace and relaxation, deep concentration and creativity. We like to avoid saying too much before people use the tank, so that they aren’t influenced by what someone else says. Not only will it be different for you than it is for anyone else, it will be different each time
  • What do I need to do to prepare for this experience?
Most importantly…relax. The tank will help but if you arrive relaxed, the experience will be more beneficial for you. There are a few additional things to consider. Try not to shave right before arriving. It isn’t the end of the world if you do…but salt water on freshly shaven legs isn’t the most pleasant thing on Earth. Remove your contacts prior to floating (bring a container to store them in). If you have caffeine before you float, it may interfere with your ability to relax. Ladies, if it’s that dreaded time of month, give us a call to reschedule.
  • What are the benefits of flotation therapy?
There are many proven benefits of flotation therapy: Chronic pains may be reduced by 50% in the first session and up to 80% in following sessions. Speeds-up recovery time from physical exercise. Helps to enable deep and healthy sleep patterns. Promotes recovery from muscular and skeletal injuries. Reduces swelling. Increases endorphin production. Reduces blood-pressure. Improves circulation. Energises the body. Clears the mind. Accelerates learning. Heightens the senses. Effective in fighting both addiction and depression
  • What is Infrared Heat?
Simply stated, infrared is a light wave next to the color red on the electromagnetic spectrum that is invisible to the human eye but felt as heat. In fact, you’ve likely come in contact with infrared before since it is commonly used in incubators for newborns, heat lamps and toasters. As you can imagine, your sauna session at Float Fire & ICE will be a gentle, peaceful one that leaves you feeling relaxed and renewed.
  • What does it feel like?
Warm, cozy and relaxed – how does that sound? That’s what the first portion of your treatment will feel like. During the last 10 minutes, your sweating and heart rate will increase though your comfort level will remain.
  • Can I use if pregnant
No, you should not use our Infrared Sauna if you are pregnant
  • What are the benefits of Infrared Heat?
Many studies have looked at using infrared saunas in the treatment of long-lasting health problems and found some proof that saunas may help. Conditions studied include high blood pressure, heart failure, dementia and Alzheimer's disease, headache, type 2 diabetes, and arthritis.
  • What is an ice bath?
An ice bath is when part of the human body is immersed in ice-water for a limited amount of time typically as part of a recovery routine. Some people recommend 10 to 15 minutes but here at PLUNGE, we recommend 2-10 minutes. An ice bath is sometimes called cold water immersion, cold water therapy, cold therapy, or cold plunging. Although mainly used by athletes for sports therapy, ice baths provides many benefits in addition to aiding physical recovery which non-athletes can take advantage of too.
  • What are the benefits to using an ice bath?
Ice baths are known for their array of benefits that can aid almost anyone in their health journey. From your mind to your muscles, plunging is a great addition to your overall health and wellness routine. Overall Health Immune system support Increase blood flow Boost metabolism Support weight loss Boost energy Mental Health Elevate mood Build discipline Increase mental resilience Decrease stress Energy boost Reduce anxiety and depression Recovery & Pain Relief Reduce inflammation Reduce & prevent muscle soreness Boost performance Build physical resilience Reduce chronic pain Skin Reduce eye puffiness Tighten skin Erase fine link and wrinkles Increase blood flow to create healthy glow
  • How cold is the ice bath?
Our ice bath is regulated and set to between 6-8 degrees celcius. If you would like it colder, let us know, and we can adjust the temperature for you in advance, down to a chilling 3 degrees!
